A Great Job! In His Own Words!

Posted in: General

The news of Steve Job’s standing down has sent a tidal wave of ‘wise words’ and ‘learning lessons’ from people all around the TV, newspapers, and of course, the internet.

Rather than give my take on what we can all learn from him as a leader, I think it best just to highlight his ‘wisdom’ in his own words.

So here a few of his own quotes that seem to sum up his leadership approach nicely (you could also reflect on how you ‘measure up’ too!)…..

On creating a company culture…….

“Be a yardstick of quality. Some people aren’t used to an environment where excellence is expected”

On innovation…….

“Sometimes when you innovate, you make mistakes. It is best to admit them quickly, and get on with improving your other innovations”

On customers……
“You can’t just ask customers what they want and then try to give that to them. By the time you get it built, they’ll want something new”

And finally, on himself……

“I want to put a ding in the universe”

I think it’s fair to say that he’s done (and will continue to do?) that!
