Social Media – (Trivial) Obstruction or (Terrific) Opportunity?

Entrepreneurs Forum Panel Event, Wynyard Park House, 15th April 2010

Hello there!

Thanks to all those who came to the great panel event yesterday eveining and well done to the Entrepreneurs Forum team for organising another engaging and value adding event. Thanks also to Tarek, Sarah, Mark and Derek for their insightful contributions. Here’s a ‘brief debrief’ of the session to remind you about what we talked about along with a ‘lots of links’ that you may find useful in taking the next steps to maximise social media for your business!

 

Here are just some of the key points from the session:

  • Think Strategically! – Work out what you want to achieve and then how social media can help you
  • Observe – watch others and learn
  • Tap into free resources that allow you to ‘make it work’
  • Contribute to conversations and communities
  • It’s not just about ‘marketing’ – use it to find ideas, people, resources
  • Think CNN – the information you send out is Critical, Nice to know, or Noise (see article here)
  • Get Your ‘personality’ into it, and follow the ‘etiquette’!
  • What gets measured, gets managed – use the resources available to analyse ratings, rankings and ‘hits’
  • ‘Just do it’ – have a go!

Maximising People Performance!

Hello there!

Thanks to all those who came to the Maximising People Performance event and thanks very much to Horner Brothers for hosting us! Here’s a ‘brief debrief’ of the session to remind you about what we talked about along with a feew links you may find useful in taking the next steps!

Here are the key points from the session:

  • Get That Vision Thing! – Create a clear picture of the future and share it with your people
  • Create Other Leaders Not Followers – set performance targets and give feedback
  • Get ‘Engaged’ – find ways of involving your people regardless of age, experience and position
  • Find People That Fit! Recruit people that will contribute to, and add to, your preferred culture
  • Think Out Of The Box – Consistently question and challenge what you do – get others to do the same

Creating Devoted Customers!

Greetings! Thanks very much for your ‘hospitality’, welcoming me into the group and for your contributions – you’ve got a great group there and there was a really good ‘feel’ about things!

Here’s a summary of the key points from the session:

  • Choose ‘em or lose ‘em – get a focus on the sort of customers you WANT to work with
  • Think in 3D – Create a Dramatic and Demonstrable Difference – DO stuff that gets people talking!
  • Marketing involves EVERYBODY – make sure they know that!
  • Forget CRM, think MCR – MAXIMISE those customer relationships!
