It’s been a year since we sadly lost Steve Jobs, but his mark on the world has continued with the successful growth and development of Apple. There’s been lots and lots written about him – notably the brilliant biography by Walter Isaacson which is well, well worth a read. It really does show him as a Dramatically and Demonstrably Different thinker (and crucially, ‘doer’) and pprovides real insights into how he got others to do it too, and continue to do it after he has gone. That is his legacy.
Apple themselves produced a wonderful short video tribute to him last week, and it’s well worth a look:
I still think it’s his own words that have the best impact in Demonstrating his 3D Thinking…
On creating a company culture…….
“Be a yardstick of quality. Some people aren’t used to an environment where excellence is expected”
“Sometimes when you innovate, you make mistakes. It is best to admit them quickly, and get on with improving your other innovations”
And on himself……
“I want to put a ding in the universe”
I think it’s fair to say that he did (and continues to do) that!
That’s one hell of legacy!
Steve Jobs RIP.
